Taking things one step at a time – Wedding calender of events

I’ve been engaged for 4 months now and it recently dawned on me that I’m going about things completely┬áthe wrong way… luckily I managed to get my ducks in a row before it’s too late.

I came across this great guideline that assists you planning your wedding one step at time.

6 – 12 months before

  • Determine the wedding date
  • Discuss the wedding budget – will your parents contribute? Who pays for what?
  • Choose your colour scheme
  • Book your church & venue
  • Choose your attendants,bridesmaids and groomsmen
  • Select a wedding gown
  • Select bridesmaid gowns and accessories
  • Interview caterers if not included in venue
  • Compile guest list
  • Book wedding photographer , videographer and DJ

4 – 6 months before

  • Find a wedding cake baker
  • Order wedding invitations and stationary
  • Reserve your florist
  • Choose wedding music
  • Consult travel agent to discuss honeymoon destinations

3-4 months before

  • Select tuxedos for groom
  • Arrange transportation for the wedding party
  • Discuss final menu options and costs with caterer
  • Arrange for rental of items needed for ceremony and reception
  • Begin counselling sessions with wedding official if required

4-6 weeks before

  • Discuss and finalize details with your :
  • Pastor/ Official Church Soloist
  • Caterer,Florist,Baker
  • Bridal Shop/Tux Shop/Limo Service
  • Photographer/Videographer/Travel Agent
  • Schedule appointment with hairdresser for bride,attendants & mothers
  • Send wedding invites 6 weeks prior to your wedding date.

2-4 weeks before

  • Apply for a marriage licence
  • Arrange to move belongings to your new home
  • Arrange for name change as necessary

1-2 weeks before

  • Confirm final guests to caterer
  • Bachelor party should be at least one week before the wedding
  • Begin packing for honeymoon

The day before

  • Decorate for ceremony and reception if possible early in day
  • Keep appointment for manicure and pedicure
  • Give the best man the official fee in a sealed thank you card for delivery after ceremony
  • Get a good nights sleep
