2014 in review

The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2014 annual report for this blog.

Here’s an excerpt:

A New York City subway train holds 1,200 people. This blog was viewed about 5,300 times in 2014. If it were a NYC subway train, it would take about 4 trips to carry that many people.

What’s your wedding shoe!

When it comes to shoes I normally prefer comfort as to suffering. I’m definitely not a shoe girl, I do not drool over Manolo Blahnik’s or Jimmy Choo’s. My choice of shoe normally would be pumps, kitten heels, sneakers or wedges or maybe even slippers. Choosing a wedding shoe can be tricky if you are looking at the abovementioned options. Which led me to a Google search to see what interesting ideas people came up with.

Something that has become quite popular is brightly coloured shoes , which would normally be the colour of your theme and I also love the idea of the bright All Stars. Just imagine how comfortable you would be. I’m all for comfort, you don’t want to be miserable in high heels that hurt your feet the entire day. Most weddings I’ve been to the bride usually ends up barefoot anyway so maybe you could get away with a pair of stringy sandals instead! Satin ballet shoes are also a option, they come in a variety of colours and the ribbon tied across the ankles look so angelic and fairylike.  I have two pairs of shoes at this stage but I’m not 100% sure yet maybe I should get a pair of All Stars just in case…

Today is the 100 day mark, Quite scary to think that in 3 months time I will be a Mrs .  At this point in time I’m a  crazy mess of frustration, excitement and so many other emotions. I’m not stressed as yet , but I believe it will come. Most of the items on my checklist are ticked so its smooth sailing until 1 March ( I hope!)

Pre Wedding Weight loss

Hi lovely ladies … and gentleman (in case there are some reading this blog). I hope you are all well  and healthy and still enjoying your wedding preparation journey.

Today I tackle weighty issue of losing weight. Firstly I need to confess that I’m no expert on this topic .  I have been overweight for most of my life and its something that I really struggle with.

Firstly there is no such thing as a quick fix, losing the weight and keeping it off is a mind change and a lifestyle change. You cannot expect to eat what you want and stay skinny. Yes there are all these wonderful tablets and gadgets you get to help you on your journey but once you reach your goal weight you will still have to continue eating as you did or you will just pack all the weight back on.

When it comes to weight loss here are some of the things that have worked for me in the past.

1. Eat smaller portions more frequently – So instead of eating 3 big meals eat 6 little ones.  I did the Patrick Holford diet for a while and believe it or not It was not a lot of food that you ate but you actually felt quite full.

2. Exercise is important – do the Math! Even if you are the healthiest person alive you need to exercise. You need to burn of the excess energy you obtained from the food you ate otherwise your body turns it into fat.

I definitely do not want to preach to anyone. I know how it feels when tell that you are fat and you need to make a plan.

So that is what I did . Firstly I bought myself and anti burst exercise ball. You can find them at any Game, Makro, Mr Price Sport or Sport store. There are different sizes for your height. I’m not that tall so I only needed a 55cm ball. The one I bought is the Trojan brand. They have several programs on their website that you can download for free. I also found a really cool program on Prevention.com —–> here’s the link http://www.prevention.com/fitness/strength-training/2-week-belly-flattening-routine?page=3

I also adjusted my diet. I cut out bread , sugar and fizzy drinks and I’m drinking LOTS of water as well. I know I wont be skinny but I do want to lose a bit of weight before my wedding day.

Id  like to hear your tips as well and to all of you that have lost the weight congratulations keep up the good work!

Until next time…..
